Your records, documents and photos stay on your phone. The app has no server. We cannot see your data, so we cannot sell it or pass it on either. The only things that leave the phone are what you share and the technical data ML Kit sends to Google about its own work. ML Kit is Google's text-recognition component, built into the app. The section "What ML Kit sends to Google" has the details.
Vessel details, maintenance records, deadlines, and the receipts, spreadsheets and PDFs you add are stored only in the app on your phone.
If iCloud Backup is on for your iPhone, the app's data is in that backup too, under your Apple account and Apple's terms. We have no access to that backup.
A PDF dossier, a hand-over file or an email you send stays with whoever receives it.
The app reads receipt photos, PDFs and spreadsheets on the phone. No image, document or text read from them is sent to any server, which is why the app also works in airplane mode.
While it reads photos, ML Kit sends Google technical data about its own work. Google uses it for diagnostics and usage statistics. According to Google's description of ML Kit for iOS, this is:
The image and the recognised text are not on that list. Google's description is on its page ML Kit data disclosure for the App Store.
This sending cannot be switched off. Neither the app nor ML Kit has a setting for it. Google handles this data under its own privacy terms. We do not receive or see it.
Barka's privacy label on the App Store lists this data the way ML Kit itself declares it: as data not linked to you and not used for tracking. These are six data types, each with its purpose:
"Other User Content" comes from ML Kit's own declaration. Google's list above mentions neither the image nor the recognised text.
A receipt or work order carries the details of a mechanic, a marina or a seller. You are responsible for that data, as the person who keeps and shares it. We neither see nor process it. Do not add documents you have no right to keep or share, and do not pass them on to people who do not need them.
Only you start a share, and every one takes a tap from you.
What you share leaves the app and our control. The recipient has a copy.
When you delete a vessel in the app, all of its records and documents are removed from the phone. When you delete the app, everything in it goes. The copy in your iCloud backup remains until you overwrite or delete that backup. Copies you share remain with their recipients.
barka.club has no cookies, no analytics and no forms. The hosting provider sees the usual technical data of a request: IP address, time and browser. It needs them to run and secure its servers and handles them under its own terms. We do not collect or look at them. The dossier page opened from a QR code does not send the data in the code to the server.
If you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message, including any documents you attach. This covers a mail from the app, "Tell me when it's out" on the website, a question and a misuse report. The controller is Josip Čotić, Zagreb, Croatia, the provider of the app named in section 2 of the Terms of Use.
The purpose is to answer your message, or to send the one launch notice you asked for. The legal basis is carrying out your request and our legitimate interest in keeping the correspondence. The only recipient is our email service provider.
We keep messages while the correspondence lasts and for at most twelve months after the last message. Addresses for the launch notice are deleted no later than thirty days after the notice is sent. We send no newsletters or other notices without your explicit consent. A reply to the message is enough to opt out.
The App Store processes data when you download and update the app, under Apple's terms. From it we receive only aggregate figures, with no identities. Version 1.0 is free. There is no subscription and nothing to buy in the app, and the app does not contact the App Store for purchases. If paid features come later, we will update this statement before they do.
The app is not directed at children. We collect no one's data through it.
The data in the app exists only with you. Access, correction, deletion and portability are therefore in your hands, inside the app. We do not receive the technical data ML Kit sends to Google, so we can neither show nor delete it.
For the emails you send us, including the address and attachments, request access, correction or deletion, or object to the processing, at support@barka.club. We reply within 30 days.
This section applies to Barka on an Android phone. The rest of this page applies to it as well, except the parts about the iPhone, iCloud and the App Store.
On Android, receipt photos are read by ML Kit too. Text written into a PDF is read on the phone by an open-source library built into the app. Scanned PDF pages are read by ML Kit, like photos.
On Android, ML Kit sends Google the same kinds of technical data, plus the input and output size and the component's version. Google's description is on its page ML Kit data disclosure for Google Play. On Android, too, this sending cannot be switched off.
If backup is on for your Android phone's Google account, it holds the vessel details, records, deadlines, the app's settings, and the names of your documents with the text the phone read from them. The backup is under your Google account and Google's terms. The document files themselves and the boat photos are not in it. When you move to a new Android phone directly, by cable or Wi-Fi, on Android 9 or later, the documents and photos move too. We have no access to that backup.
The backup in your Google account remains until Android replaces it with a newer one or you delete it in your Google account's settings.
Google Play processes data when you download and update the app, under Google's terms. The app does not contact Google Play for purchases.
